Healthcare
The construction of Earl K. Long was the first of many relationships with major hospitals in the Baton Rouge area. We have either originally built or completed major renovations to Baton Rouge General Health Center on Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge General Health Center on Bluebonnet, Woman’s Hospital on Airline Highway, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on Essen Lane, Surgical Specialty Center on Bluebonnet Boulevard, Baton Rouge Clinic and Lake Surgery Center on Perkins Road and Willis Knighton Bossier Health Center in Bossier City, La.
Our healthcare construction also includes various clinics and physician multi-story office towers such as Our Lady of the Lake Medical Office Building I and II, as well as the Woodland Village Manor Nursing Home in the New Orleans area. Villa St.Francis in St. Francisville, is an assisted-living facility, is an example of the wide range of health care projects we have built --- all of which total well over $700,000,000. Many of these projects are repeat clients.
Multi-family/apartments
We have built a variety of apartments for many years including Scotland Square, Jefferson Lakes Apartments, Bluebonnet Ridge Apartments, Siegen Village, St. Jean Apartments, a 624-unit complex on Harrell’s Ferry Road in Baton Rouge and Magnolia Crossing Apartments, a 100-unit complex in Gonzales. There have also been two assisted-living projects: Malta Square at Sacred Heart,100-unit renovation to an 80-year-old Catholic school in New Orleans and Assisi Homes in St. Francisville. Two of our larger projects we have built are the New Orleans Navy Housing Naval Air Station Joint Reserve in Belle Chasse and Lafitte Treme in New Orleans.
Retail stores
We have constructed Cortana Mall Shopping Center in Baton Rouge as well as the stores for its major tenants: Maison Blance, Wilson’s, Mervyn’s and Dillard’s. Other tenants we finished included Fashion Park I, Fashion Park II, Children’s Palace, T.J.Maxx, Silo, Old Navy, Shoe Carnival, Guitar Center, and other retail facilities surrounding the mall. We have also renovated Southdowns Shopping Center in Baton Rouge and built free-standing facilities such as Walgreens, Blockbuster Video and the Lanier Building. We have also been successful in the New Orleans area re-building the Shops at Canal Place that were damaged during Hurricane Katrina. Additionally, we have also constructed the Gallery of Shops at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
Education
Some of our early jobs were for Louisiana State University. Peabody Hall and Knapp Hall paved the way for many LSU facilities including stadium renovations, the Alumni House, Pleasant Hall, Engineering Building, Radio Chemical Building, Athletic Department, Highland Hall Cafeteria, Laville Cafeteria, Allen Hall, Aquaculture Building, LSU Union Addition, several fraternity houses, the LSU Law Center and the Life Sciences Annex Building. Located on the LSU campus is Christ the King Church where we renovated the interior of the church including the construction of a baptismal fountain and completed the addition of the church annex.
In East Baton Rouge, Ascension and surrounding parishes, school projects have included McKinley Elementary School, McKinley High School, Prairieville School, Baton Rouge Junior High, Brownfields School, Central High School, Dufrocq Elementary School, Ascension Schools #8, St. Theresa School, Winbourne, Bernard Terrace and Sharon Hills, the Fine Arts Building and the new Science Building at Catholic High School, renovations to St. Joseph's Academy as well as additions to Our Lady of Mercy School and Redemptorist Library.
Several projects have been completed for Southern University in Baton Rouge including Southern University Central Plant, the John B. Cade Library Building and the Higgins Social Sciences Building,
The largest school project was the multi-building Louisiana State School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge.
Condominiums
Condominium projects include Brookhollow Condominiums and Leigh’s Cove Condominiums, located outside the south gate of LSU. Also, we have been involved with building Bayshore Towers and Bella Luna Condominiums in Orange Beach, Alabama as well as Florencia Condominiums in Perdido Key, Florida. Renovations to the historic Kress Building in downtown Baton Rouge in a combination of condominium living on the top floors and retail space on the street level of the building.
Commercial
Another early project was the City Club of Baton Rouge. This opened doors for a wide range of commercial facilities including banks: Capital Bank and Trust (now Union Planters); Hibernia Louisiana National Bank Operations Center (now BankOne); City National Bank (merged into BankOne), and Bank of Commerce. Insurance companies include Wright and Percy; Union National Life Insurance Building; Blue Cross; Audubon Insurance; Prudential-Liberty Mutual. One of Baton Rouge’s prestige office buildings that was built and is jointly owned by us is the Jefferson-Brentwood Building.
Industrial
Industrial contracting began in the 1970s with the office building for Copolymer Rubber Company. Other large projects include Formosa Plastics Company. Smaller projects include Exxon, Dow Chemical Company, Kaiser Aluminum, Ethyl, Exxon Plastics and General Electric, BASF.
State of Louisiana
The Old State Capitol had been in disrepair until the 1970s. We have renovated it twice over a period of several years. Other state projects include the War Veterans Home in Jackson, La., renovations to the Department of Revenue building, complete renovations to the House of Representatives and the Senate Chambers in the State Capitol Building, construction of the Louisiana School Employees Retirement System Building, and the construction of the Claiborne, Iberville, and Galvez Office Buildings which is part of the Louisiana Capitol Park Complex.
Hospitality
Hotel projects include the Hilton Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott and complete renovations to Holiday Inn South in Baton Rouge and renovations to the historic King Hotel (Indigo Hotel). Also, St. James Hotel, Hampton Inn and the Cotton Exchange in New Orleans.
