EBRP MAIN LIBRARY AT INDEPENDENCE PARK
The Independence Park Library construction began with the demolition of the existing library facility and parking areas. Following demolition, construction began on a new three-story, approximately 126,717 square foot library facility and new parking areas. The facility was built with an eye on technology. The high-tech, environmentally friendly building boasts a north wall made almost entirely of glass to take advantage of natural lighting and a sloped “butterfly roof” that will capture rainwater for plants. This library houses at least half a million books and more than 130 public computers. At nearly twice the size of the system’s existing main library, it also serves as headquarters for administrative offices.
