Junior Estimator

Milton J. Womack, Inc. currently has a Junior Estimator position open within our company.  The Junior Estimator will fill a role within our organization that has a need for a young college graduate who has a desire to learn commercial and residential estimating and preconstruction processes with the intention of this individual progressing and growing with Milton J. Womack, Inc.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related curriculum or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to review and interpret project drawings and understand sections, elevations, details, etc.
  • Have experience in quantification and take off processes.
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.) and familiarization with plan take off software such as Plan Swift.
  • Professional and respectful communication skills with an attitude toward a total team concept.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and want to excel.
  • Previous internship in a related field is a benefit, but not a requirement.

Expected day to day duties could be, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and specification reviews to help determine subcontractor and vendor scope of work.
  • Quantity take off for self-perform installation requirements.
  • Communicating with subcontractors and vendors via email and phone conversation.
  • Creating bid packages and scopes of work for subcontractors and vendors.
  • Review of bid proposals to determine complete or incomplete scope.
  • Assisting other estimating and preconstruction team members with general duties as needed.

The physical demands of this position must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time and frequently stand and walk.  The employee will occasionally lift and/or move office equipment up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include viewing computer monitors.  Work is performed in an office environment during normal business hours.

Capstone at Scotlandville-Section 3 and MBE/WBE Construction Work Available

Capstone at Scotlandville, LP has been awarded Federal funds for the purpose of developing the Capstone at Scotlandville Apartments; to be located in Baton Rouge, LA. The Developer has since contracted with Milton J. Womack to serve as the General Contractor. The work to be performed under this contract is subject to the requirements of Section 3 of Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 U.S.C. 1701u (section3).
This is a HUD funded project and we are interested in making sure that Subcontractors and Owners of Section 3 businesses and Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises who live in, or whose businesses are located within the Baton Rouge, Louisiana metropolitan Statistical Area know about the possible employment opportunities this project will offer. It is also our intent to provide employment opportunities to low and very low-income persons, particularly those who are residents of public assisted housing within the City of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish, residents within the project neighborhood, participants in HUD Youth-build programs and/or homeless persons.
All Subcontractors and businesses must furnish proof of liability and workers compensation insurance and evidence of qualification as a Section 3 entity. Additionally, subcontractors must comply with the Davis Bacon Act, the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, the Copeland Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Entities submitting bids should indicate if they are a Section 3 and/or MBE/WBE business and if they are located within the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Metropolitan Area.

Project Manager

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the coordination of assigned construction projects which includes contract administration, procurement, document management, financial and risk management, scheduling, and quality control as necessary to support field operations from start-up to completion of assigned projects. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related curriculum or equivalent experience
•5+ years of commercial construction experience on projects valued at least $5 million, with at least 3 years at a Project Manager level or equivalent
•Strong business acumen in project planning and management
•Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills


Cypress at Gardere-Section 3 and MBE/WBE Construction Work Available

Cypress at Gardere, LP has been awarded federal funds for the purpose of developing the Cypress at Gardere Apartments; to be located in Baton Rouge, LA. The Developer has since contracted with Womack-NRK Construction LLC, a Joint Venture LLC. to serve as the General Contractor. The work to be performed under this contract is subject to the requirements of Section 3 of Housing and Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 U.S.C 1701u (Section 3).
