Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 per year

Role Overview
We are seeking a high-potential Junior Estimator / Preconstruction Coordinator who is eager to launch their career and grow into a leadership role. This needed role is a hybrid of technical analysis and creative design, split roughly 60% InDesign creative proposal work for our Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) responses and 40% in subcontractor communication and quantity takeoff work. At our firm, we act as Estimating Managers of our subcontractors.

You will be part of a small, collaborative team of estimators and preconstruction personnel. We aren’t looking for someone who knows everything on day one—We’re looking for someone who is highly motivated, eager to learn, and driven to excel. If you bring the attitude, we’ll provide the training and mentorship to help you succeed.

Key Responsibilities
• CMAR Proposal Management: Use Adobe InDesign to lead the creative layout and assembly of proposal books, translating our company’s qualifications into a professional visual narrative for future clients.
• Plan Interpretation: Review and interpret project drawings. Navigate and understand floor plans, building sections, elevations, and architectural/structural details to ensure nothing is missed.
• Subcontractor Management & Scope Verification: Assist our team in “scrubbing” subcontractor bids. You will call subs to verify scope, identify “bottleneck” items, and ensure no gaps exist between trades.
• Field Investigations: Conduct job-site visits to review existing conditions and attend pre-proposal meetings. Compare “as-built” reality to the drawings.
• Digital Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate material counts using iSqFt and other digital platforms to provide a baseline for bid comparison.
• Bid Administration: Manage the invite-to-bid process via iSqFt, ensuring healthy trade coverage and organizing incoming project documentation.
• Microsoft Office Analysis: Use Excel to build bid tabs and comparison spreadsheets that highlight discrepancies in subcontractor pricing.

Required Qualifications
• Education: 4-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Ambition: A strong desire to excel in the preconstruction field and a proactive approach to learning new skills.
• Software Foundation: Familiarity or willingness to learn Adobe InDesign, iSqFt, and Microsoft Office.
• The “Manager” Mindset: A proactive communicator who is comfortable picking up the phone to talk to trade partners.
• Mobility: Ability to travel to local jobsites on occasion (Baton Rouge and surrounding areas). Baton Rouge, LA will be your main office.

Preferred Skills (A Plus)
• Proposal Design Experience: Candidates with a background or strong interest in graphic layout and proposal design will be highly considered.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
• Office: Work is performed in an office environment during normal business hours. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time.
• Site Visits: On occasion local travel to jobsites for review of existing conditions and pre-proposal meetings are required.
• General Demands: Specific vision abilities required include viewing computer monitors. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move office equipment up to 20 pounds.

Benefits & Perks
• Competitive Salary: $55,000 – $65,000.
• Paid Vacation: Accrued time off for rest and personal time.
• 401(k) Retirement Plan: With company matching.
• Fuel Card: Provided for travel to jobsites and pre-bid meetings.
