Project Overviewx

This building was formerly the Department of Public Safety Headquarters and now is the home of the administrative offices for the Louisiana Community Technical College System. The project started with the demolition of several additions that were added on the back of the building by DPS. Exterior restoration work included the complete stripping of the numerous layers of paint down to the original 1800s plaster, repairs, and replacement of the cypress windows, and a new slate roof. With the exception of a few original rooms on the first floor, all interior partitions were demolished. The main lobby was enlarged and included the addition of an elevator and wood stairway. The interior renovations included the use of cypress columns and wood flooring at the main entrance and corridors and wood wainscot throughout the building.
